This part of the Burgh House show will carry on for 3 months until 26 March 2017. It is a very personal part – drawings and watercolours are displayed in date order from earliest in 1944 (age 17) – the first comprehensive survey of the work across seven decades. It also includes memorabilia and photographs.
“Coinciding with McWhirter’s 90th birthday, it will celebrate her achievements as an artist. Charting her stylistic developments, personal relationships and singular sensitivities, it aims to communicate what makes McWhirter so distinctive and unique as a 20th century artist.“
The House and Museum are open 12noon – 5pm Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sundays – free entry.
